Saturday Winning Horse Racing Tips
Only 12.40 and jobs done already, ok the first winner was a short price at the off but if you got on at 11/10 as I did there was a tidy profit to be made. Also have had the first and second come in in the first leg of the jackpot card at Newbury so everything crossed for the next five races, lol...

Boxing Day Racing Winners, Welsh National
Too much racing yesterday! Glad I concentrated on the Jackpot meeting at Kempton and the Scoop6 which included 2 races at Wetherby...close but no jackpot payout but had four winners at Kempton and another at Wetherby which would have made a tasty multiple bet if I had bothered...
Off to have a look at the Welsh National and todays tips will be on Gambling Housewife later this morning.
Probably no tips tomorrow, Friday, as I am going back to stay at mum's tonight. She had a very bad day yesterday needing extra morphine for new pains in her back and has lost all use of her left leg. Poor soul is undergoing a terrible ordeal. Different GP visiting today, I hope he ensures she gets the best relief possible.

Wednesday Free Horse Racing Tips Newbury Jackpot
...will be online on the Gambling Housewife before the start of the first race at midday.
However I do not know when I will next be able to publish my tips as Mum remains mostly pain free but nausea a problem but are giving her an injection when nausea esp bad which seems to help. She is weaker every day, so much so that she cannot move unaided and bedsores are becoming a problem, poor soul. A positive is that she is much morre settled in her new room and there are one or three things that we can do which still give her some pleasure
Back off there later today, had a much needed night at home last night, crashed on sofa about 8pm....but nothing compared to her ordeal..
Hope all is well with you and yours

Sunday Horse Racing Tips
..will be online soon, tasty rollover for the Tote Jackpot Race Card at Kempton!
Mum is weakening every day that passes, she seems a lot happier since the move to room 13 ( I was surprised that a nursing home has a room thirteen) and relatively symptom free which is a relief for all. Mum said I could have my nanas copy of Elizabeth Craig's Cookery illustrated and Household management which has a weierd and wonderful collection of household hints...
for example:
"Corns, Cure for:
Soak some bread in vinegar for 2 days and put a piece as a poultice on the corn overnight, binding it on with a strip of rag. Every 3 days soak the feet in hot water and peel off a layer of the corn. Continue the treatment until the corn has disappeared"

No tips due to illness
Apologies for the lack of updates since last Monday but I have been at my mums because she is now very unwell and needing 24/7 care. Thank heavens a bed has become available at the local hospice for her and that the pain and sickness seems under more control and she is comfortable.
I am only home for a short rest, bath and to pick up some essentials so I really do not know when i will be able to resume normal service but hope to be back soon..

October stop at a winner profits
given a great boost by a 7/1 Mark Johnston horse winning the second leg of the jackpot at Catterick today, it was shorter - at time of proofing so carried 3 points to cover the previous race loss of 5 points and to make a profit. Proofed stop at a winner tips stood at just over 68 points profit before todays winner!
It would have been beautiful at Catterick today, the weather in North Yorkshire has been brilliant although the clouds are starting to gather now...

New staking system & Monday racing winnings
Since using stop at a winner to back my jackpot race meeting horses the proofed tips are showing almost 80 points profit for October. I love it when the winners come early but there were some aspects to the old proofing system that I miss..
anyway, yesterday I wrote about the top rated being a lay...which was duly landed and my alternative also won. I wrote "As yesterday the top rated on stats is given a miss as I fancy Bells Oat Cuisine at 7/2 to do the business today.
Johnston continues in great form so his only runner of the day, Suzi Spends 12/1 2.30 Windsor, should not be ignored'
Bells Oat Cuisine 1st 7/2
Suzi Spends 1st 8/1
so is todays horse racing shortie a back or a lay, why not have a look and try to guess?
Online ASAP

First race at Windsor..job done
In todays email I wrote "Johnston continues in great form so his only runner of the day, Suzi Spends 12/1 2.30 Windsor, should not be ignored" and Suzi romped in, well won in a photo at 8/1, I took the early 12/1 so thats it for today.
No more proofing etc so time to catch up on the dreaded housework ready for my daughters arrival from Greece to stay for a week.
In a great mood now so I will drop a hint that todays top rated is a lay..

Saturday Racing Winnings
In yestardays email I wrote
"Nail biting stuff if like me you were backing stop at a winner yesterday but the price made earlier stakes easy to recoup. Lets hope for an earlier winner today and a few good runs for our money in the Scoop Six, well worth winning today as single winner of the Win and Bonus prizes would get an estimated £1,392,471. Smaller fish, just one top rated today away from the jackpot meeting which would get 4 points win on the old system or use as a get out of jail card."
Saturday was not quite so near knuckle biting with a good winner in the 4th race on the York Jackpot card and the shortie won but computer problems meant that did not get proofed.... Top rated shortie: Franchoek 2/1 3.40 Chepstow
York Jackpot Placepot & Stop at a Winner - I stake for a profit & recover losses
2.10 Blue Spinnaker, Full Victory
2.40 Atlantic Coast
3.10 Sudden Impact, Major Eazy
3.45 Rising Shadow, Fonthill Road WON 13/2
4.20 Ghizlaan
4.50 The Grey Berry
And so, the Scoop Six rolls over again to next Saturday when the Ch4 scheduled races are Cheltenham 2:20, 3:30 & Newmarket 2:05, 2:40, 3:15, 3:55 so midnight oil and thinking cap at the ready.
Of todays shorties one is a win bet and the other a lay with my email detailing my win selection for that race...todays Bath Jackpot tips online soon

Who will be the next Scoop Six millionaire?
I would love to think I could crack it!
Right now the pool for the Scoop 6 totals
Win Fund £ 711,890
Place Fund £ 11,634
Bonus Fund £ 609,935
If you are the sole winner of the Win and Bonus prizes you would win an estimated £1,321,825!
The amount to be won in the scoop six win and place funds will keep increasing up until the first race starts.
The big question is will it go to a small single punter with one 2 pound line on or to a big syndicate with lots of selections for each race? However todays big fields should make it prohibitively expensive to do large perm bets
Todays Scoop 6 races are:
14:10 York 20 runners
14:20 Ascot 19 runners
14:25 Bangor 12 runners
15:10 York 15 runners
15:25 Bangor 14 runners
15:45 York 20 runners
My Scoop Six selections will be online shortly.
Fingers crossed!

What a day at the races
or not as the case may be...first my washing machine started screaming up the plug hole at me then my lap top crashed before I could proof my first winner of the day in just the second leg of my jackpot placepot tips! So my stats are messed up as I tried to play catch up and hopefully ensured a profit for the day with another winner in the 6th and last leg of my selections. So my strike rate as proofed is out but returns should be about right.
Washing mahine easily fixed in the end and some interesting info re greyhounds from the repair man so onwards to tomorrows racing and hopefully an early profit

Winning Monday for my horse racing tips
Great stuff, the new "stop at a winner" racing system using my jackpot placepot tips came up a winner again today with the sole selection for the second leg winning at 7/2
The only problem is that I have to be at the computer until the first winner comes in, not always possible with an elderly father in law with dementia and mother with terminal cancer. Likely to have to miss a few days tipping and proofing in the near future.

Betting Bank and Staking Plan
A lot has been written about the various forms and varieties of gambling, but far to little about the responsibilities and pitfall of gambling, as someone who makes his living from gambling, whether it be from horse racing, fixed odds, online and offline poker or any of the other sporting or specialty types of betting I know only too well the pitfalls that await the newbie gambler and the seasoned punter alike, I have even heard of some pro gamblers who in the middle of a particularly bad run have went on tilt and ended up broke.
The heartache and misery that accompany such an episode can not only affect such a punter but also his or her family and friends, unpaid bills, rent or mortgage payments, excessive drinking, even the loss of ones job, and yet with a small amount of effort all of this can be avoided,
To get any sort of enjoyment or financial gain from you gambling you must look hard at yourself and answer the following 3 statements HONESTLY, 1. Do I have self discipline, 2. Do I have a betting bank I can put aside (No matter how small your starting bank may be). 3. Can I afford to lose it, this third statement may seem a little strange at first till your realise that you must be able to face such an eventuality as with any form of gambling there will always be this risk. If you answer NO to any one of these three statements then I am afraid that gambling of any sort is most definetly NOT FOR YOU.
Let us now examine each statement on an individual basis,
Discipline: You must have discipline in order to be a professional gambler, if you hit a bad run of results due to weather, bad judgment or any of the other multitude of disasters that can befall the pro gambler then you must have the discipline to stick to your staking plan and protect your betting bank, you must also have discipline so that when you do hit a winning run your do not make silly bets convinced that you can get another winner no matter what horse you pick, remember in such a state off euphoria you are more likely to pick the proverbial three legged donkey with asthma and bad eyesight.
REMEMBER FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANING TO FAIL
Betting Bank: This is probably one off the most contentious points amongst both pro gamblers and amateur punters alike, I have seen various amounts of money quoted as a starting bank from £250-£1,000 as a starting bank and on one occassion even a starting bank of £5,000, to the ordinary guy in the street looking to make extra cash from this business or indeed to start on the road to becoming a full time pro gambler amounts like these are just not possible. A more realistic amount will depend on whether you are starting out at a high street bookmakers or online at one of the betting exchanges, lets s first look at the bookies shop, if you decide this is your starting point then a bank of just £25 will be a sufficient starting point, if on the other hand you have access to a computer and a broadband connection then the betting exchanges are your starting point as you are betting against other people as opposed to a mainstream bookmaker,
you can also expect slightly better odds from the exchanges.
On the exchanges it is a fact that only about 4% of punters make a living from their betting, the unfortunate other 96% are your mug punters who have no disiplne, no betting bank and no staking plan, these people will occasionally get lucky and have a big win but when you count what they have lost previously the majority of the time they are only winning back their previously lost cash and by the law of averages will lose in the long run.
So you see without discipline and a betting bank you will continually lose.
For your betting bank to survive you will need a staking plan, one of the best plans I know of is the 4% plan whereby you only ever bet 4% of your bank at any one time. From a starting bank of £50 your first bet would be just £2, if this lost then your next bet would be 4% of £48 or £1.92. Let us assume however that your first bet is a winner at odds of 3/1, your original stake is returned to you along with £6 winnings, so your £50 bank is now £56, this means you next bet would be £2.24, the beauty of this plan is that it reduces your stake or liability following a loss but increases your stake after a winner, this method will protect your betting bank longer and decreases the chances of a total wipe out.
Losing your Bank: Last but not least we come to what I consider the most important point CAN I AFFORD TO LOSE MY BETTING BANK, your betting bank should be money you set aside and if necessary are prepared to lose in its entirety, as previously mentioned you betting bank should not be made up from money you would normally use to pay bills, rent/mortgage etc, if you use this type of cash you are betting in fear as if your betting bank gets wiped out you are actually in debt twice over and this is the road to certain financial ruin, I have seen to many good men and women ruined financially and emotionally by following this route, the only certainty in gambling is UNCERTAINTY and a sure fire guarantee that you will NEVER be able to join the ranks of thee pro gamblers and the kind of lifestyle that they enjoy will forever be unreachable for you.

Winning Jackpot and lay racing tips
In yesterdays email I wrote "Did you follow my new suggestion – to follow the jackpot selections, stop at a winner for a profit ie, if no win in first race bet on the second to recover previous stake and make a profit? It came good yesterday with a 4/1 winner in the first at Ascot. Today’s ( Sunday's) card looks difficult with the favourites all having some negatives although I reckon Honolulu & Balthazaars Gift are the best value favourite bets of the card.
Away from Ascot I will be laying Abutilon 7/2 5.05 Market Rasen 3 points stake and backing Rowdy Yeats 11/4, 3 points win Twiston Davies is in sparkling form and could have a hat trick today with 2:10 Nez Rouge,4:30 Grenfell and of course 5:05 Rowdy Yeats"
Twiston Davis' horses were all placed with my selection being his winner for the day.Nez Rouge 3rd at 8-1, Grenfell 6-4 Fav 2nd and Rowdy Yeats won at 2-1
Following the jackpot race meeting selections came good again with a winner in just the second race.

What a fiasco at Pontefract races today
Why oh why was Double Attack allowed to run??? My nap of the day and the horse bolted at the start and must have run the eqivilent of a full race before being loaded and allowed to run. I might as well have just handed my money to the bookies and said have a holiday on us mug punters. The Will Hill radio commentaters were also digusted that the horse was allowed to race and called for the rules to be updated...what do you think?

Saturday Scoop 6 & Horse Racing Tips
In Fridays racing tips email I wrote "Not a bad day yesterday with best horse racing bet and both top rated winning. That cannot happen today because the first top rated Broomielaw 4/5 4.10 Doncaster, is a ridiculously short price probably because it has been put out as a free email tip by a well known tipster and Tanya from channel four racing also gives it a big write up. At the RP forecast 2/1 it was a possible best bet but now it is included for the jackpot but no bet otherwise. The second top rated Raccoon 6/4 7.10 Catterick gets 4 points win.
I have put up my jackpot tips but the Doncaster meeting looks a veritable minefield with big fields and four maiden races."
Both the top rated horses won very easily unlike my main tips which all failed to win, but yet again my jackpot tips contained 3 winners - one a stonking 20/1 - 4 placed horses and two forecasts - exactas, the first of which paid £153.80 CSF £132.10
So I will sleep on it and consider changing my strategy to stop at a winner or similar but that does pose problems for proofing my horse racing tips, hmmm.

Winning horse racing tips Wednesday
I am seriously considering making some changes to my betting strategy, my jackpot placepot tips are throwing up a fair few winners and even more placed horses even though the jackpot race meetings do not always feature what are considered "good" betting races.
Take today's Salisbury races for example, the first three races are maidens with 14 horses racing in each of them of which about a third have never run on a racecourse before. So with very little form to go on, to pick a horse to back the most relevent stats available are trainer and jockey course statistics and recent stable form. Alas these may mean nothing when racing against an unraced hotpot.
This does however mean that there is more chance of longer priced horses winning which, if you get them right, means higher returns and especially a higher return for the jackpot placepot as less people are likely to get a share of the pool. Yesterdays results at Salisbury back up this theory with only one favourite winning and only one favourite being placed! Not a favourite backers day there then. I tipped up one winner, one second and 3 thirds so backing place only would have shown a tidy profit.
So is place backing my jackpot placepot tips the way to go?
As I write at Salisbury I tipped the horse that came second in the first race and the winner of the second

Tuesday Horse Racing Tips
I had really high hopes of my next best racing tip today, Lindens Lady was declared last night at Thirsk but did not run at its local racecourse. The trainer Weymes who has been in great form recently chose instead to send Lindens Lady 296 miles down to Brighton racecourse. She not beaten far her only previous try at Brighton races four years ago and had a decent apprentice,Patrick Hills,up today but she didnt even manage a place!
Very dissappointing indeed, maybe time to put Weymes on the cold trainers list? I really hope not as I also chose a Weymes horse for my second longshot tonight, Drink to me only at Musselburgh.
Listening to Will Hill radio as I type I just heard that the other northern raider at Brighton won easily - Ishebee for a Duffield,5/1. Doh! Thats racing and gambling for you, so many factors to take into account a case of the right factors here just the wrong race.

How to Create Your Own Winning Horse Racing System
A useful article for newcomers to horse racing systems:
Most people think that you need to be an expert to produce a successful and profitable horse racing system which produces winner after winner.
However creating your own winning system is not difficult if you follow these 9 simple steps.
Let’s consider a hypothetical horse called ‘Old Nag’ and see if conforms to these 9 steps!
All the relevant information on ‘Old Nag’ can be found in the offline or free online version of the ‘Racing Post’ which is the industries leading newspaper.
* The number of runners in a race will obviously affect the chances of ‘Old Nag’ winning. A big field means more competition. It follows that it would be difficult to pick a winner in a race of more than 12 runners.
* The type of ground a horse is running on is one of the most important factors in the outcome of a race. The ‘going’ should be good or good to firm. If the going is soft or heavy then the outcome of the race could well only depend only on the size of ‘Old Nag’s’ feet!
* When a horse ran its last race is also important. If ‘Old Nag’ has not run for a while it would be difficult to judge its present form. Its last race should have been run in the present season, and no longer than 28 days ago. The shorter the period from its last race the better.
* Of course it would not be a good bet if the horse ran a few days ago only to come in last! It follows that its form or where it was placed in the last few races is important. Ideally you would want ‘Old Nag’ to have come in first or second in the last 3 races.
* The distance the race has to be run is also important. If the race is too short ‘Old Nag’ may not have enough time to show its true form. On the other hand if the race is too long anything could happen… the apocalypse might come, or the jockey might fall asleep! A safe distance would be between 5 furlongs and less than 3 miles.
* The ‘Racing Post’ is the countries leading newspaper on all things to do with horse racing. Only the top tipsters appear in this paper. Their forecast for the winner of each race appears in a part of the Racing Post called ‘The Selection Box’. If 60 to 80% of them tip ‘Old Nag’ as the potential winner then its time to sit up and take note.
* The letters C and D sometimes appear in the horses form. The C means the horse has been a winner over this particular course at sometime in the past. The D means he has been a winner over the distance the present race is being run. If C or D (or preferably both) appear then this is a strong indication that the horse should be considered.
* Handicap races are notoriously difficult to predict as theoretically all horses should pass the finishing line at the same time. So choosing non handicap races means even ‘Old Nag’ might have a chance.
* Finally favourites win around 33% of the time. So look out for favourites especially if they are 3/1 or lower in the betting.
Of course even if ‘Old Nag’ meets all these criteria there is still no certainty that it will win. There is a way, however, where you will ALWAYS profit from a race. You can email me at ian.paton3@btinternet.com for more information on this.

Winning Horse Racing Tip
Just the one today, my first longshot Paparaazi won 13-2, he was held up, made headway over 4f out, then led over 1f out, driven out to win by half a length. The second long shot dissappointed leaving it too late in the race and made no impression final furlong ending up 5th with Blackheath 4th.
Mark johnstons two runners did not run up to expectations so I am half glad that I had too much housework to do to be able to go to Catterick races even though it looked a perfect day to be at the race course.

Racing Tips 7th August Catterick & Chepstow
Where do the minutes, hours, days, weeks go? Or in other words why am I too short of time to blog? Well, as a full time housewifewho hates housework it seems to take up an inordinate amount of my time and the space in my head yet can never be said "to be done". I guess that is just the nature of the beast.
Racing today is at Chepstow and Catterick and both look very tricky race meetings indeed. The tote jackpot is at Chepstow - another jackpot winning day would be just the best possible result right now.
Anyway on to today's free racing tips as sent in my email earlier today:
Just two meetings today but hey both look very tricky. Mark Johnstons horses seem to be firing again so the top rated Osolomio 11/10 3.30 Catterick is passed over in favour of his Frosty Night at 4/1, 3 points win and a one point double with my nap also a 2yo Johnston horse.
Mark Johnston has a 40% strike rate in 2yo non-handicaps at the track, for a profit of £30.48. Mark Johnston also posts a profit in handicaps for non-juveniles at Catterick, especially with 3yo against older horses, a profile fitted by Frosty Night.
Best bet: Miesko 9/4 3.00 Catterick 6 points win
Next best bet: Attilas Peintre 10/3 &2.30 Catterick 5 points win, 1 point double
Two pts each way & 0.5 ew dble: Paparaazi 7/1 4 Catterick, Throw The Dice 8/1 5.30 Catterick
Combination Exacta: Throw The Dice, Ballybunion, Blackheath 5.30 Catterick
Top rated shorties: Osolomio 11/10 3.30 Catterick

July RAcing Profits
A good days racing results for my tips away from the big meeting at Newmarket. David Barker, a local racing trainer, did me a favour by winning with Choysia 4.40 Catterick which was 20/1 when I picked it and won at 14/1. My other longshot, Fifteen Love 10/1 4.20 Newmarket, managed 2nd at 12/1 and is one to follow for me.
Oh, and later on 8.20 Kempton my nap, Electric Warrior wan at a very nice price of 7/2 taking my tips into a profit of over 53 points for July so far.
So to conclude my tightening up of my selection system - and not having to go out to work - has lead to increased profits from my racing tips

Racing profit July
Ah, sunny July at last...in between the deluges and have crept into profit for the month with two nice priced winners yesterday at 11/2 & 7/2. When I selected those horses however they were Lytham 5/1 6.30 Lingfield & Mayadeen 7/1 3.15 Hamilton so both were heavily backed to almost half the opening show. Pleased I put my bets on early!

May Racing Update
Poor old neglected blog, just shows how much my little part time job is interfering with my real interests, ho hum, decision time I think...
Have had a few good Saturdays at the races recently, making a profit on the day for the last three weeks. My offical stats are not so good but taking into account some nice each ways doubles, Exactas etc not too bad at all.
I found this article really useful when making up my own ratings:
Ever wondered how a bookmaker ‘makes’ his ‘book’? When you visit a race course and look along the rows of bookmaker pitches, just how do they come up with the different prices? Surely the figures are not just plucked out of thin air, because its not often you hear the sob story about a poor bookmaker!
Normally the prices for any given race are settled around 4pm the day before a race. Every major bookmaker will have a team of five or so odds-compilers, one working on each race on the card. These odds are then delivered to the trading team, and the rails bookmakers at the respective courses. Once a market opens on track, the individual bookmakers will keep an eye on what the others are doing as the market unfolds. Each will be competing against the others, trying to attract business by offering the best prices. At the same time they need to balance their books and make a profit. It’s certainly no easy task!
When pricing up any event, the first thing a bookmaker will need to consider is the amount of profit to build into his prices. If he wishes to make a 20% margin he will need to price the race at 120% of the natural odds. Calculating the profit margin is made all the more difficult in the UK because it is one of the most over-populated betting markets in the world, and consequently very competitive. Margins too high and you will be uncompetitive, but cut your margins too much and you will make less profit.
Playing The Percentages
Here is a little game you can try, to help you understand how prices compare to the chances of a horse winning a race. You will need a pack of cards.
First, place the four Ace cards face up in front of you on a table. If you can imagine, these will represent the four runners in the starting stalls of our ‘race’. Now, shuffle the remaining cards. Next, deal twelve cards off the top of the deck, down one side of the table. These cards will represent the 12 furlong markers on our ‘race-course’.
In my example, the 12 ‘furlong’ cards comprised 4 clubs, 3 hearts, 2 diamonds, and 3 spades.
Start the race by turning over the first card off the top of the deck. A 'horse' will move forward one furlong each time you reveal a card of the corresponding suit. So, if the first card is a club, move the Club horse out of the stalls and forward one furlong. Repeat until a horse reaches the twelth and final furlong - you have a winner!!
So, how should we have priced up each of these 4 horses before the race? Well, first you need to consider these figures: with 4 Ace cards, and 12 further cards already dealt from an original pack of 52, there are 36 cards left in the pack. Diamonds is the favourite with 10 cards left in the pack, followed by Spades and Hearts with 9 cards each, and finally the outsider Clubs with 8 cards.
Calculations go something like this for Diamonds: 10 cards in a pack of 36 remaining cards, so 10 divided by 36, times 120(%) profit margin, equals 33.3(%) which in fractional terms means odds of 2/1
For Spades and Hearts: 9 cards in a pack of 36 remaining cards, so 9 divided by 36, times 120(%) profit margin, equals 30.0(%) which in fractional terms means odds of between 9/4 and 5/2
Finally, the calculation for Clubs: 8 cards in a pack of 36 remaining cards, so 8 divided by 36, times 120(%) profit margin, equals 26.7(%) which in fractional terms means odds of 11/4
Adding up the percentages you can see the total is 33% plus 30% plus 30% plus 26% equals 119% which gives you your 'over-round' profit margin of 19%
Given that 67% of all races are won by the favourite, a bookmaker might well shorten the price of the favourite, and then add some value to the other horses, to balance his book.
This was obviously a simplified example, with only four horses in the race, but hopefully it highlights some of the reasoning behind pricing up a race.

Winning Racing Tips April
Poor old blog, have been feeling pretty poorly so Gambling Housewife blog always seems to be the first to suffer, the good news is that so far April is going well, +41.45 points profit on singles to date...
The email tips are doing especially well, yesterday I wrote "Hope you are full of the joys of spring after a long weekend and some good results yesterday with both the best and next best winning plus the first long shot and the first top rated followed by the top rated lay as advised.
Today’s top rated should win easily but the Johnston hot pot will only get 5 points of my bank if I can get evens and Blackthorn similar at 11/10 or better but I will double them up with my best and next best."
Shame about Augustine but still a profitable days racing tips...

Sunday nap & next best bets won
Tasty little win double for Sundays horse racing tips
Best Bet: WON Euro American 7/2 2.00 Carlisle 5 points win
Next best racing tip: WON Harry Wood 2/1 4.40 Carlisle 5 points win, 1 pt double
The win double paid 13 points to each point bet with the singles returning a profit of 17.5 and 9.38 respectively for 22.88 points profit on the days singles alone.
Shame I can only proof singles as they are not always where my best profits really come from. For example my winning jackpot tips in January paid over 18 thousand pounds so for the rest of the year I only need to make about 40 pence a day to stay on target for 50 pounds a day...

Cheltenham winning racing tips
Oh dear, failed to find a winner away from Cheltenham yesterday but made a fair few points profit from the tips advised in my email:
'First day of Cheltenham and my main bets are elsewhere although I will be playing small stakes on some of my Jackpot selections, my main fancies being 3.15 Sublimity, 4.40 Spot Thedifference and 5.20 Madroos, two points each way and a small round robin.
I will also be laying My Way de Solzen 3/1 2.35 Cheltenham and Exit Swinger 5/2 4.55 Sedgefield plus a 5 point win on Rebel Army in the latter.'
The main dissapointment was My Way De Solzen which I reckon only won because my fancy Don t Push It fell.
Today I will be hoping for a big day for my Cheltenham tips, especially in the bumper...

Monday Winning Double Racing Tips
Not too bad a day yesterday, I got it right when I wrote "Surrey Spinner 6/4 2.30 Ling is worth 5 points win bet' then I got the lay selection correct but not the winner of that race..." but I reckon Climate will beat Blue Sky Thinking today."
My "Next best: Three Thieves 3/1 2.20 Wolverhampton 5 points win" also obliged but my two longshots both just missed out on the places as both came in fourth..
Off to check out Newcastle and Southwell for today...
Interesting article in The Guardian about how greedy punters looking for an edge almost got stung big style.
They thought they "had stumbled upon an edge. The first goalscorer market on Betfair for the Coca-Cola Cup final appeared to be no less than 40% overbroke on the lay side, suggesting that anyone with half a brain could lay every eventuality for a guaranteed profit.
The good news was duly relayed to the rest of the forum, to general rejoicing and cries of "let's get stuck in". Which plenty of them duly did, laying the market for all they were worth - in fact, significantly more than they were worth, because Betfair's software recognised what seemed to be a locked-in profit and did not deduct it from their balance.....
....The problem arose because bets on players who do not start, or have not joined the game as substitutes by the time the first goal is scored, are cancelled, as more experienced Betfair players knew all too well. The market was not overbroke at all, it just looked that way.
The original thread tells the story best of all, in dozens of short episodes penned by those involved, which turn from smug backslapping to shock and embarrassment as it becomes clear that they might, in fact, be neck-deep in doo-doo. Had Betfair not decided to stand their losses, in fact, a number of them could have been several thousand pounds down."
Hilairious although the author does conclude that there are indeed adges to be had but not usually so apparently obvious.

Winning Treble Racing Tips
Well, pleased black February is behind me and winning racing tips are starting to flow again.
In saturdays email I wrote "Big roll over on the Scoop Six today, can I do a Haddock? For short priced fav backers La Dame Brune should boost your bank in the opener at Newbury, Karello Bay is a 5 point lay with 5 points win on Golden Child in that race. Please note I have changed back to 2 points each way on the long shots…
Best bet Saturday: Coach Lane 2/1 3.30 Kempton 7 points win
Next best tip: Maljimar 3/1 2.10 Newbury 5 points win, 1pt double...
My best bet and next best tips both won nicely and my email tip, Golden Child won at a very nice 4/1 with my singles, doubles and treble boosting my bank by 200 points!

Big Jackpot rollover Lingfield today
I must remember to put it on and repeat my winning jackpot selections!
"THE totejackpot went unclaimed at Towcester on Sunday to ensure a rollover of £206,436 starts the day at Lingfield on Monday.
A victory at Fontwell for 33-1 shot Whitford Don in leg four - paying 45-1 on the Tote - did the damage knocking out the remaining 145 tickets. Paul Petrie, totepool spokesman, said: “The big hitters got involved today and with an odds-on favourite winning the first things were definitely looking good.
“However, a 22-1 winner in the second leg and then a 33-1 winner in the fourth proved too difficult and there is a massive jackpot up for grabs to get the punting week off to a flyer.”"
I wish!

Winning longshots
...could do with a few at the monment! Moolarman posted some interesting observations about picking long priced winners:
"Here are a few distance switches you should look for. Give extra consideration for horses changing distances from:
1.) 6 - 6.5 furlongs to a 1 Mile or 1 Mile 1/16th race
2.) 1 Mile race 1 Mile 1/16th race to a 6 - 6.5 furlong race
3.) 5 - 5.5 furlongs to a 1 Mile race (this is very powerful!)
4.) 1 Mile race to a 5 - 5.5 furlong race
5.) 2 - 6 furlong races to a Route Grass Race
6.) For Maidens: 2 - 6 or 6.5 furlong races to a 1 mile 1/16 or 1 mile 1/8 race
(super powerful if combined with a drop in class!)
7.) 7 furlongs to 1 mile 1/16
8.) 1 mile 1/16 to 7 furlongs
Well there you have some super-potent trainer distance changes that can produce very big-priced horse racing longshots."

Winning horse racing tips Saturday
What a great days racing last Saturday! In my email I wrote "I hope you all enjoyed watching yesterdays racing as much as I did. The highlights for me were Celtic Major who was given a superb ride in front from the off and although the favourite loomed up close to the finish he won in good style. Malettons race was a real nail biter but Sam Thomas did us proud despite pausing to look back through his legs. Johnstons two disappointed hugely."
The tips were:
"Gambling Housewife best bet Saturday: WON Maletton 3/1 3.50 Wincanton 8 points win
Next best tip: WON The Sawyer 9/4 3.30 Haydock 5 points win, 1pt double
One pt win 4pt place 0.5 ew dble: WON Celtic Major 14/1 3.20 Winc, Royal Engineer 20/1 3.40 Ling

Sadly, after a cracking week Sunday and Monday fell far short with just an exacta and short priced winner but I am still top of the backing tipsters for the past month on Racing Index.

Four to one winning tip
Just the one bank saving winner yesterday but I learnt a couple of lessons..
Avoid any race meeting where an inspection has been held - the later the inspection the stronger this advice.
Listen to myself (again) Tuesday night I pencilled in the Prescott runner as a long shot, forecast to go off at 8/1 and with the profile of a Prescott plot horse. I discarded it because the morning betting showed it at around 7/2, 4/1 so I binned it. It later drifteed back to sevens and won..Grrrr
Yesterdays tip alert email read:
"lets hope to improve on yesterdays good results.
Unfortunatly I have say that I will not be betting on the top rated shorties today and could not find a win or place alternative so no bets in those races apart from for the jackpot. However Edin Burgher merits a 5 point single and 1 point treble with my nap and next best.
Best bet Voss 7/2 12.20 Lingfield 8 Points win
Next best bet: Dance The Mambo 7/2 12.40 Newcastle 5 points win, 1 point double
1 pt win 4pt place 0.5 ew dble: Polly Jones 9/1 3 Ling, Nomadic Blaze 12/1 3.20 Newc
Combination Exacta 0.5 pt: Nomadic Blaze, Young Smokey, Political Cruise 3.20 Newc
Top rated shorties:.The Whisperer 4/9 1.10 Newcastle, Noir Et Vert 8/13 1.45 Newcastle, Edin Burgher 3/1 2.25 Ling"

Tuesday winning email tip
Another good day for my racing tips yesterday + + 26.25 on just the singles!
best bet: WON Come Bye 9/4 2.20 Folkestone 8 points win
Next best bet: WON Topiary Ted 9/4 1.40 Wolverhampton 5 points win
Top rated shorties: WON Melpomene 13/8 Superrollercoaster 13/8, WON Hurlingham 1/2 3.30 S
Not too bad yesterday with only one tip failing to make the frame, shame the placepot went down on one leg, here's hoping I do better today.
Three top rated but I will be betting Melpomene & Superrollercoaster as 10 point singles and in a 2 point double plus a one point treble but no straight bet either back or lay on Hurlingham. In the 3.40 Wolves Glenviews Youngone could be the dark horse, 1 point win 4 points place for me.

Monday racing winnings
Another good day for my racing tips with only one from seven failing to make the frame for a very tasty 21.70 points profit plus a small exacta win to provide the icing on the cake.
Email subscribers did especially well if they followed my advice:
"Hope you had a great weekend, it certainly made mine when we came back from the pub to see that my nap and next best both won.
The two Barron shorties today were pencilled in as my nap and next best but are too short to qualify, however I rate them as 10 point back selections and will make a great treble with Maletton, also a 10 pointer. BTW both Barron horses are in Betfred best odds races.
Gambling Housewife's best bet: 2nd Running Hot 3/1 3 Plumpton 7 points win
Free racing tipsters tip (next best): PU Raki Rose 2/1 2 Plumpton 5 points win
One pt win 4pt place 0.5 ew dble: 3rd Ebony Jack 9/1 3.30 Plump, 1st Players Please 6/1 4.40 Wolves
Best combination exacta: Won Ex £18.10 Players Please, Challis, Six Day War 4.40 Wolves
Top rated shorties: Won Pietersen 5/4 2.10 W, 2nd Rafferty 4/5 3.10 W, won Maletton 6/4 2.50 Fakenham

Winning double, nap and next best racing tips
Yesterdays email didnt have any extra tips but I did ask if " you all took the hint and backed the two shorties yesterday for a profitable day?"
Pleased with yesterdays results, on singles alone the two winners returned 39.50 points profit and the double another 29.25 points profit. The winning horses were:
Best Bet: Josh You Are 4/1 4.45 Kempton 6 points win
Next best racing tip: Louphole 4/1 3.45 Kempton 5 points win, 1 pt double
Off to make todays racing selections - and decide if the top rated shorties are to be backed or layed for my email list.

Winning double racing tips
For Saturdays email I wrote
" I hope to start the day with a winner in the first at Lingfield, Johnstons Boscobel doubled up with Areyoutalkingtome later to pay for the rest of todays bets. Betfred is still showing Pietersen at 9s, mostly 5s and Racing Post forecast 3/1…very strange.
Best bet Saturday: Madison Du Berlais 7/4 3 Warwick 8 points win"
Very nice win double advised in the email and trebled up with my winning nap!

Weekly tips round up
Bit up and down this week, started well with winning tips Monday and Tuesday but blank Wed & Thurs except for my private & email racing selections...Thank heavens for Schuh Shines win yesterday to cover the loss on the other woeful nags, the last one of the day just about summed it up when at the off he ran sideways into the rails instead of ahead up the course. Lets hope for better today
Thursday I wrote: shame Catterick has been abandoned but the weather here is really foul - I am only 15 minutes away - looks like a few weekend meetings may go the same way.
Both each way selections are best odds with Betfred today, as is one of my favourite horses Shuh Shine at Hereford, too short to be an official bet but I will be backing it.

Next best pick: Richards Sundance 11/4 4 Hereford 5 points win, 1 pt double

Hope you all profited from the 10/3 winning nap yesterday. At first look at ratings for today I penciled in New York Oscar as my nap but the price is just silly and with two non runners I cannot see it drifting so no bet in that race for me although many businesses would love that sort of return. Closed shop I may back if I can find evens or better.

Winning Friday Nap
Not too shabby with my racing tips today, especially if, as I mentioned in one of my emails, you back my tips using stop at a winner method. The nap of the day, Cumbrian Knight, was the first chronologically and won nicely at 9/2.
In todays email I also wrote "From todays shorties I will be backing Cherri Fosfate myself but will not be taking the way too short 4/7 for Jass." I managed evens on Cherri and a tasty double with Cumbrian Knight.
Off to continue reading Mark Johnstons bio and another general book about gambling on racing from which I hope to incorporate a few more filters into my syste,ms.
Oh and lastly my jackpot picks let me down in one leg but did give FIVE winners! Check them out at Gambling Housewife

December Horse Racing Profits
Finished December with 96.64 points profit at advised stakes, very tidy if you bet £10 per point for £966.40 returned. I also had a fair few exactas and a few placepots to swell the bank and have made the resolution to keep better track of the bets I cannot proof.
