Llewellyn bows out of training ranks

At The Races - Llewellyn bows out of training ranks:

"Carl Llewellyn was out of luck when saddling the final two runners of his training career at Uttoxeter.

Tayman was unplaced in the Ladies At The Races Handicap Hurdle, while Scalloway failed to get competitive in the Britannia Building Society English Summer National, won by Fire And Rain.

Llewellyn, former stable jockey to Nigel Twiston-Davies, is now looking forward to teaming up with him once again as assistant.

He made a spectacular start to life as a trainer when saddling, and riding, Run For Paddy to success in the 2006 Scottish Grand National at Ayr, but earlier this month was sacked as salaried trainer to owner Malcolm Denmark at Weathercock House.

'It is a bit sad, but things move on and we'll make the best of it. We've had a few decent winners and some good runs at the Cheltenham Festival,' Llewellyn told At The Races.
'Obviously I know Nigel extremely well - we get on great - so it will be nice to team up with him again."

Will miss his runners in NHF races.

Johnston banker?

Step up will suit Queen (From The Northern Echo):

"Mark Johnston has his string in fantastic nick and Rock Of Love has been found the perfect opportunity to open his account at Beverley.
The juvenile has shown a good level of ability on four starts, finishing fourth on his first couple of outings before going down by just a length when second at Yarmouth.
He was disappointing when beaten into third at Hamilton last time but his rivals always appeared to be going a stride too quick for him.
It is safe to assume Rock Of Love will come into his own as he steps up to seven furlongs for the first time in the Racing Again On Friday 3 July Maiden Auction Stakes."

Awesome Yeats

Just the one winner at Ascot yesterdy but wht a winner!!!!

Channel 4 Sport:

"YEATS showed all his brilliance to record an unprecedented fourth victory in the Ascot Gold Cup. The super stayer's rider, Johnny Murtagh, was keen to make it a real test of stamina and struck for home on the winner over three furlongs out. He quicklyopened up a clear lead and never looked like being caught from that moment. Yeats's victory was the first for an eight-year-old in the staying showpiece in more than a century and winning trainer Aidan O'Brien was quick to pay tribute to his champion. He said: 'Unbelievable - that's all I can say.'"

Email racing tips Thursday

Good afternoon,

Lots of racing today but nothing I could call a stand out bet but I think I have found 3 best bets, in the 2.10 Newbury Implication is the 4/1 fav but the race looks open so I will be going each way on a northern raider, Spinners End 9/1 who ticks more boxes for me. Implication unplaced, Spinners End 3rd 7/1

Apple Charlotte 11/8 2.40 Newbury, is a popular fav but I am going to look to the break in the betting and go for one of my fav each way bets to nothing on Fallen In Love 6/1 for in form J Dunlop. Apple Charlotte 2nd, Fallen In Love 3rd 7/1

Getcarter 7/2 4.25 New is a plain win selection.

Tues email tips winners

Todays email went out at 12.31 and advised that Dods looked likely to get the winner of the 3pm Redcar plus place/s

Tuesday Tips 9 June, 2009 12:31 PM
From: "Gambling Housewife" Good afternoon,

Same as yesterday, I will be brief as I have to dash (poorly tum)…. 3 best bets, all win bets today.

The 3.00 at Redacr looks interesting. Dods won it last year with 7/2f Kiwi Bay and his Mister Tinktastic has been backed into 11/2 fav but he runs 2 more a longer prices, - Dean Iarracht in to 8/1 and Jimwil at 20/1, it looks promising for a trainer one – two to me.

JIMWIL WON 20/1

Pricewise selection (updated 12.48pm 09 JUNE 200) Dean Iarracht came 3rd

I have often mentioned in my email to have a saver when certain trainers run more than one in a race and that strategy paid off well today. Shame about the forecast but hey ho!

Dash Handicap a one-two for the region (From The Northern Echo)

Dash Handicap a one-two for the region (From The Northern Echo): "NO northern representatives in the Derby, but they held their own in the rest of the races at Epsom on Saturday.
The famous five furlong Dash Handicap was a one-two for the region, with Dandy Nicholls’ Indian Trail beating the Tim Easterby- trained Captain Dunne by a short head.
Nicholls saddled four runners in the race; Strike Up The Band also ran a great race to finish third for the Thirsk trainer.
Afterwards Nicholls said: “It’s our Derby and I am excited for all of us. It’s hard keeping everyone happy when you saddle four, but I thought this one was unlucky here in April when he was drawn wide.”"

Channel 4 Racing Epsom Friday

Was hoping to see Tanya's Titbits but no joy..

Channel 4 Sport: "Sariska 4.05 Epsom

Sariska can provide Michael Bell with his second Classic in Friday's Investec Oaks at Epsom.

Bell proved he could mix it with the big boys when he masterminded the career of Motivator to land the Derby in 2005 and this year he has the perfect candidate to win the fillies' equivalent.

Sariska has always carried a tall home reputation before her. Indeed, Bell has made no secret of the regard in which he holds the Pivotal filly and repeatedly claims her to be the apple of his eye.

Well-touted before a Newmarket maiden last November she had no trouble inseeing off 16 rivals.

Bell faced a tricky decision at the start of the season whether to train her for the Guineas or the Oaks but after she finished only fourth in the Fred Darling that was made for him - even though it was an eye-catching run all the same.

Stepped up to 10 furlongs for the first time, we saw her true worth as she left some smart fillies trailing in her wake in the Musidora, winning by nearly four lengths.

Despite Pivotal never having sired a Group One winner over 12 furlongs, Sariska looks ready made for another step up in trip.

Of her rivals, Rainbow View has to convince that she has fully trained-on, the form of Midday's Lingfield Trial win is questionable and while Sir Michael Stoute's Phillipina is respected, no maiden has won the race since Sun Princess in 1983.

Aidan O'Brien's Perfect Truth could be the main danger.Sariska 4.05 Epsom

Bolger chasing Derby double

Derby news:
The Press Association: Bolger chasing Derby double:

"Jim Bolger reports 2000 Guineas third Gan Amhras to be in fine shape ahead of the Investec Derby at Epsom on Saturday week. However, the Coolcullen trainer, who saddled New Approach to take the premier Classic 12 months ago, would like to see a bit of ease in the ground come the big day.

Speaking at the 'Breakfast With The Stars' at the Surrey track, Bolger said: 'I am very happy with him and everything has gone well since the Guineas. You have to go there and see what happens but I don't anticipate having any problems with the track.'

He added: 'I wouldn't want the ground soft, but he wouldn't mind a bit of give in it. If were to turn up very soft Fergus McIver would probably be in the line-up but if the ground was good or better, he wouldn't run there.'"
