All European businesses involved in online gambling in any way will welcome this move to curb the powers of the US to interfere in their trading...

WTO Weighs In On Online Gambling - Forbes.com: "Aggressive moves by the U.S. to thwart online sports betting within its borders may spark a broad trade dispute with Caribbean and European nations that provide homes to the $12 billion Internet gambling industry....

The BBC reported Tuesday that the WTO was setting up a committee to study Antigua's claims and has 90 days to report on the U.S.'s compliance with its earlier rulings. Members who fail to comply with WTO rulings face the possibility of sanctions, like higher tariffs on non-related items.

While casino gambling and state lotteries, even interstate lotteries such as Powerball and Mega Millions, are common in the United States, gambling is regulated at the state level. Federal laws, such as the Wire Act, prohibit interstate gambling. Online gambling, particularly sports betting, would fall under the prohibition.

But the laws have not kept individuals in the U.S. from opening accounts at online betting sites, which are legal in most other areas of the Western world."
