Could have been a bank busting day as the jackpot tips went without a winner for the first 5 races, then wham bam an 8/1 winner in the last plus the exacta (first & second on the Tote, a pool bet) which paid a tasty £70.50 compared to the CSF at just £55.07 (CSF = computer straight forecast based on starting price)
To subscribers I wrote: "As I said yesterday the market seems to have been getting it right the past few days so Kingdom Of Light 5/2 looks very interesting in the first at Pontefract but I cannot resist having a saver on Johnston’s Rock Of Love 11/1 out of Rock Of Gibraltar and with “Love” also strong in the bloodline this could be a very interesting two year old this year. Johnston has also won this race a couple of times recently.
The second best bet is a plain win bet but in the 4.45 Southwell the well backed Take Me There 5/1 has a great chance but I will split my stake with Hawke’s Coup de Tabac 14/1, his well backed runner yesterday came 3rd so lets hope his stable is coming into form.

Stop at a winner wins again
Bad day for the jackpot selections again yesterday, so thank heavens for the second best winning for SP Profit 0.88 points profit at SP. That illustrates the benefits of stopping at a winner nicely yet again I think.

Nightmare day at the races
Only one winner! Well I suppose it was not a complete blank, could have been worse but not much, so I hope that is April's black day out of the way. Such days are par for the course though as any pro punter will tell you, any system will have a losing run and you must be prepared for that both mentally and in your bank and staking plan - above all do not go on tilt and chase your losses until you go broke. There is always another day and long term profit is key.

I am also against Azharia 5/2 5.10 P fancying Ingleby Lady 7/1 to be the second leg of a winning Tommy Barron double with Ingleby Princess 2.40
I could say no comment about the first lay/back combi as the winner should have lost given such an awful race with mistakes all over at least my ew pick placed to preserve the bank.
The second lay back combi came up trumps with Ingleby Lady drifting in the betting but winning at 9/1, I stuck a couple of quid each way with the tote as I had to go shopping and was chuffed with the 12/1 payout.

Carnage at Kelso
Did you see the first race? According to the Racing Post it was "An eventful race in which only four of the runners managed to complete." So scraping a third is not too bad given that info!
The winners eventually came but it was a nail biter of a day, I much prefer early winners to lock in the profit and stop at a winner.
